Tourism in Romans sur Isère
Romans, a city steeped in history !
Famous for its shops and unique craftsmanship, Romans offers much more than just a charming setting. Discover its historical heritage and iconic landmarks, located in the heart of the city and nearby.

The Collegiate Church of Saint-Barnard
Founded in 838 by Saint Barnard, this Benedictine abbey is the birthplace of Romans. Combining Romanesque and Gothic styles, it houses an exceptional treasure: the nine embroidered tapestries depicting the Passion of Christ (on display during the season and as part of guided tours).

The Jacquemart Tower
A symbol of the city since the Middle Ages, this tower, featuring a clock and an automaton, sets the pace of life for the city’s residents. It served first as a prison gate and later as a public clock.

The Kiosk
Built in 1888 on Place Jules-Nadi, this venue for concerts and cultural events—restored in 2018—is a welcoming space in the heart of Romans

The House of the Sheep (La Maison du Mouton)
One of the oldest medieval houses in Romans (15th century), with a façade restored to its original appearance. It now houses the Heritage Center.

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes
Built between 1937 and 1938, this Art Deco building designed by François Béranger draws inspiration from the clean lines of Dom Bellot. Its 45-meter bell tower and nearly 7-meter-tall statue of the Virgin Mary dominate the landscape. Inside, discover the altar sculpted by Toros, a leading artist from Romans.
